At SystemDesign.guru, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and optional profile information such as company and job title.
Usage Data: We automatically collect information about how you use the platform — pages visited, topics completed, quiz scores, time spent, and feature interactions. This helps us improve the learning experience.
Payment Information: If you subscribe to Premium or Team plans, payment is processed by Stripe. We never store your full credit card number on our servers.
Device & Browser Data: We collect standard log information including IP address, browser type, operating system, and referring URLs for analytics and security purposes.
Cookies: We use essential cookies for authentication, preference cookies for dark mode and progress tracking, and analytics cookies (which you can opt out of).

Provide, maintain, and improve the SystemDesign.guru platform.
Track your learning progress and generate personalized recommendations.
Send transactional emails (account verification, password resets, subscription receipts).
Send optional educational emails (new content alerts, study reminders) — you can unsubscribe at any time.
Analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve content and user experience.
Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.

We do not sell your personal data. Period.
We may share data with: (a) service providers who help us operate the platform (hosting, email, payments, analytics), (b) legal authorities when required by law, and (c) a successor entity in the event of a merger or acquisition.
All third-party service providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain it.
Anonymized, aggregated analytics data (e.g., "X% of users completed Module 3") may be retained indefinitely as it cannot identify individuals.

Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information.
Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data.
Export: Download your learning progress and account data in a portable format.
Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing emails or disable analytics cookies at any time.

We use industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption in transit, AES-256 encryption at rest, regular security audits, and role-based access controls.
While no system is 100% secure, we take reasonable precautions to protect your data. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you within 72 hours.

SystemDesign.guru is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Our servers are located in the United States. If you access the platform from outside the US, your data may be transferred to and processed in the US. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international data transfers in compliance with applicable data protection laws.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email and/or a prominent notice on the platform at least 30 days before the changes take effect.
